Yma Ziyun Ma

(She/Her)

Interdisciplinary Artist | Curator| Cultural Worker

Yma Ziyun Ma (b. 1999)  is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of performance art, digital media, text, and photography. Her practice bridges dialogues between untranslatable, often exploring themes of in-betweenness, liminality, and different dimensions of movement.

Grounded in everyday aesthetics and the art of conversation, Yma's creative process aims to tell the story of the BIPOC women immigrant community’s living status. Entering the art world as a curator for a community development center, she remains committed to fostering human-to-human communication in all forms. Her projects are rooted in collective memories of diaspora, and reflect her belief in the transformative power of embodying unspeakable experiences.

Yma earned her MA in Global Arts and Cultures from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her curatorial and artistic roles span international contexts, including curating for the Xinhuo Performance Art Festival and contributing to the UP-ON Performance Art Festival. She has participated in exhibitions such as “1 Minute Solo” at Mobius Group in Boston and lectured on performance art at venues like the Fringe Festival in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
